Hertzer Tec Jot 5.0 was probably one of the least buggy software that I have released. It went through heavy testing, but it did have less code and features than other software that I have released. Hertzer Tec Toolbox had around 5,400 lines of code in it. It is also estimated that at least 1,000 lines of this were dead code. But there was a ton to correct and ensure that there were no bugs and errors. There turned out to be a great deal wrong... which is one of the largest reasons that it was discontinued.
Jot 5.0 on the other hand is extremely reliable compared to other software that I have released. However, there are a few bugs that need to be addressed. Some of which are very hard to spot (even to the most careful of eyes. But after a lot of use... I found some bugs. Woohoo!
Bug 1 - Window Settings Bug
When developing, I vividly remember messing around with the code for the window settings. Jot has 11 commands under the Window Settings menu. 2 of these are hidden by default. When the user changes any window settings, the program checks all sorts of window conditions. Like if it is opaque, fullscreen, borderless (but not fullscreen), and windowed. Then it also has to display the correct menu items based on this. In addition it has to make sure the separators are aligned into correct positions. See bug #2 for more on that. Here are all the known bugs with this:
Bug 2 - Separators Messed Up
There are a lot of menus that disappear and reappear depending on various conditions. Window settings has a menu separator that is out of place on the bottom when the user is in full screen mode. In addition to this, when the form is in full screen, a separator is missing between "Sticky Note Mode," but it shows when not in full screen.
Bug 3 - Classic Menu Style Check Boxes Missing?
This is more like a bug in Windows than in Jot. The "Modern" menu style highlights the icon I a blue box when it is selected. However, the classic menu design (which is a built-in windows component) shows a tiny check mark in the location of the icon. It does not highlight it blue. When an icon is placed next to an item, it covers up that check box when it is selected, so the user cannot tell if it is selected because the icon is covering it up.
Bug 4 - Documentation and Command Shortcuts show in a Jot window, but cannot be edited.
When you open the built in documentation and keyboard shortcuts information in a separate window. This window is a jot window with all of the functionality. This also has a right click menu... but half of these commands do not work because the document is set to read-only. The menus should either be hidden or marked as disabled.
Was there anything I missed? Let me know in the comments or feedback page.

- When in windowed mode, change the opacity to anything but 100%, then go into fullscreen. You will see that the menu has overlay mode selected, but fullscreen is available. Click on it and the screen flashes but nothing happens. In this case, the opaque button will work.
- When Jot's opacity is set to anything but 100% in windowed mode, then click fullscreen. Then when the overlay mode button is clicked on, the window will be restored to opaque and windowed. On the window settings menu, fullscreen is gone!
- The Sticky note mode can be enabled when in fullscreen or overlay mode... but it remains fullscreen...
