The majority of Jot users are people running Windows, and install the Windows version of Jot. Nevertheless, I wish for there to be a solid Mac equivalent. So far, there is not really a great Mac version of Jot. It only saves in PDF, cannot open files, and it's dialogs cannot be closed once opened. This is because of my inability to use XCode.
There are some positives to it though. There is a decent toolbar, a plethora of features, (some of which are still yet to be added to the Windows counterpart). I will probably post soon about Jot 6.0 for Windows... but that's for another day.
Its hard to really judge the Mac version from my perspective because it is so different to develop in XCode. As a mater of fact, Jot for the Mac has not one line of code that was written in it. It is all done visually in the IDE. It is hard to get consistency in features, design, and versions between the two. Some stuff is similar like the update manager, general idea of the Jot document window, and other aspects.
Another goal that I have for the mac version is to use icons in the menu to make it easier to use. Not many know it, but it is actually possible to do so on the Mac menu bars. It goes against the Mac design but you know what... Jot is meant do defy the rules software interfaces.
